Join us May 13th for Maine Walks with Haiti

In late February Wisly Clairis the school director of St. Simon and St. Jude married his long-time sweetheart. He asked me to come down for the wedding and to be the couple's godmother, a tradition in the Caribbean. Bill Slack, another member of the St. Luke's Haiti committee came too.  While there, we visited the school and interacted with the students.  We met with the teachers after school. We prepared a newsletter with photographs and their stories to share with you next week!

An important fundraiser for our partnership is the Maine Walks With Haiti event on May 13, 2017. It will be held at the Back Cove park on Baxter Boulevard again this year.  Participants can choose to run or walk around the cove to raise money, or just linger around the park to watch the performers. There will be live music, food, and the Gym Dandies will be there again with their unicycle performance.

Registration for the events will begin at 8:30 am.  Runners will begin at 10:00 and the walkers will begin after them.  The event lasts until 12:30, so come down and spend a great morning with us! For more information, call me (Karin Draper) at 650-8969.
