The twentieth anniversary of Albert Melton's arrival at St. Luke's as Cathedral Musician

This fall will mark the twentieth anniversary of Albert Melton's arrival at St. Luke's as Cathedral Musician. Our beloved Albert has served faithfully and well, playing the organ, training the Choir and providing music for our worship. Indeed, it is difficult to imagine our church without him! We are grateful for all he does and all he is in our community and feel that we should show our appreciation.
After consulting with Albert, we have come up with the idea of commissioning the composer Alfred Fedak to write a set of evening canticles (Magnificat and Nunc dimittis), to honor Albert's 20-year ministry here at St. Luke's. The music will be performed at an Evensong this fall. The cost for the compositions plus the cost of travel for Mr. Fedak to join us at this special celebration in October will be about $3,000.
We ask you to join us in making this happen. If you would like to participate, you can send your gift to Lynne England in the Cathedral office. Please make a note on your gift that it is for "A. Melton". If you prefer, you may give your donation in person to either of us. Any thoughts or suggestions on how the celebration can be enhanced are also welcome. Thank you in advance for your generosity and we sincerelyhope that you will be there for Albert's celebration in October.
Yours faithfully,
George Cooper,                The Rev. David Illingworth
Senior Warden                   for the Cathedral Choir
